Teaching at
Harlem's Soul Saving Station
Marion and I have been out of town for the
past two weeks, in New York. First weekend we attended a function
in honor of one of our faithful supporters. Her church was honoring
this sister for her many years of service in various departments
and she invited us to the celebration. It was a wonderful and
very moving ceremony in which she received high praises from so
many people who have been touched by her kindness.
This past weekend we conducted a Training seminar/workshop
on Evangelism and discipleship. We started on Friday evening and
concluded on Sunday afternoon. Those who attended (about 50 persons
in all) felt that it was a resounding success. I must confess
that it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my ministry.
To see saints mobilized, motivated, equipped and activated. On
Saturday we actually went knocking on doors and putting into practice
what the Holy Spirit taught us during the training sessions. The
saints were able to see that it is really possible to meet people
for the first time, as total strangers, share the Gospel with
them and lead all who believe to receive Eternal Life. On Saturday
eleven people prayed the sinners prayer and on Sunday morning
four (4) of them were in church. There was much rejoicing. Many
of these saints testified that this was the first time they had
actually shared the gospel.
I would like to quote part of a note, which was handed to me on
Sunday morning by one of the leaders: " You and your wife
are an answer to prayer. Somehow as a group of people we strayed
away from our mission... As a result of these sessions I
strongly believe the Harlem Soul Saving Station Church is back
on track.
The Bishop has asked if I would go with him to
the annual Convocation when all the churches come together and
do the same teaching that I did with his people, there. Pray for
us. This is what I live for. To see people activated into the
harvest and fulfilling the Great Commission.
We are still trusting God to meet our needs and
I can say He has been. We continue to enjoy good health and we
are enjoying what we are doing in His service. Pray that the Lord
will continue to open new doors of ministry. Pray the Lord of
the harvest to send more laborers into His vineyard. Pray that
we would not be distracted with the cares of this life.
Again I want to thank you for your continued
support and prayers. Because of you we are able to stay focus
on that which God has called us to do. Pray that He will give
us many more supporters to make the burdens lighter.
Please let us know how we can pray for you.
In our Lord's Service,
Basil and Marion
